Custom Mods are developed in-house to address specific gameplay needs, enhance the player experience, and add an additional layer of polish and depth to the overall modpack. These bespoke modifications are designed to seamlessly integrate with each other and existing Cobblemon-centric gameplay, creating a unique and cohesive adventure.
This central mod acts as the primary interface and integration hub for the modpack's unique features. Its main purpose is to provide players with a streamlined way to access critical information and interact with various gameplay elements through a custom, user-friendly GUI.
¶ Custom Main GUI Features
- Information Hub: A unified interface to access:
- Dungeon Information: Recommended levels, types, and unique loot for available PokéDungeons.
- Event Information: Descriptions, objectives, and special rewards for current and upcoming server events.
- Trainer & Gym Info: Displays team level caps, PokéDollar balance, and detailed info on player-operated Gyms (availability, active hours, and challenge rules).
- Server & Modpack Info: Links to community platforms, server rules, and version info for key mods.
- Player Interaction: A specialized system to easily find and initiate battles with other trainers, including challenge lists and ELO/ranking displays.
- Quick Access & Utility: Functionality for a dedicated hotkey to open the PokéBag and a permanent display for PokéDollar balances.
The mod ensures seamless interaction between complex systems:
- Towns & Guilds: Houses the UI elements for Guild Skill Trees, Guild Quests (GQ), and Guild Skill Quests (GSQ).
- Contract System: Manages the interface for creating and viewing player-to-player and guild-related contracts.
"The Modified Experience" introduces new items to enrich gameplay and integrate with crafting/exploration:
- Held Items: Unique passive effects for battle or training.
- Consumables: Field utility like Portable Healer Kits, specialized Repel Sprays, and Encounter Lures.
- Crafting Ingredients: Unique materials for PokéBag modules, Ability Patch Fragments, and high-tier guild upgrades.
- Reimplementations: Modern versions of items like PokéStops and Lures.
These systems house the logic and resources required for our custom dungeon features to function within the Minecraft environment.
- Custom Blocks & Items: Includes dungeon-specific keys, portal blocks, and necessary functional geometry.
- Portal Resources: Dynamic portal textures and spatial sounds that change depending on the destination dungeon.
- Showdown Changes: Potential modifications to the Cobblemon Showdown system required for specialized Boss-tier encounters.
This feature introduces a wider variety of visual appearances beyond standard and shiny forms, enhancing visual diversity and collectibility.
- Enhanced Collectibility: Encourages players to find and trade unique visual variants.
- Rare Variants: Includes exceptionally rare mutations such as:
- Albino & Melanistic: High-rarity color mutations.
- Biome Camouflage: Variants like Desert Rattata or Arctic Pikachu.
- Retro: Pixel-art inspired textures found via rare breeding achievements.
- Non-Intrusive: These textures are purely cosmetic and offer no gameplay advantages, preserving competitive balance. Players can track discovered variants via a "Texture Dex" in the core GUI.
This module allows for the introduction of Pokémon with themes tied to specific server events, holidays, or story arcs.
- Unique Appearances: Temporary or permanent textures fitting an event (e.g., Pumpkin-themed Pikachu or Flower-crowned Eevee). Includes particle effects and minor cosmetic accessories.
- Thematic Moves: Rarely, event Pokémon may know specific moves like "Celebrate." These are either purely cosmetic or re-skinned versions of balanced existing moves.
- Rarity: These Pokémon are primarily obtainable only during their specific event window and are non-breedable to maintain their collector value.
- Quest Integration: These variants often play central roles in temporary NPC Questlines or server narratives.
¶ 5. PokéBag Mod (Standalone Utility Mod)
Designed as a focused utility, this mod introduces a dedicated inventory solution for trainers, inspired by the mainline Pokémon games.
Functionality is expanded through a single-tier, modular system. Instead of crafting better bags, players acquire and install distinct Modules to unlock features.
The GUI automatically sorts items into logical categories mimicking the mainline games:
- Medicine: Potions, Status Healers, and Revives.
- Poké Balls: Dedicated organization for all ball types.
- TMs/HMs: Storage for Technical and Hidden Machines.
- Berries: Dedicated space for agricultural collection.
- Key Items: Protection for progression-related items to prevent accidental discard.
- Battle Items: X-items, Dire Hits, and Guard Specs.
- Valuables: Treasures primarily meant for sale (Nuggets, Stardust).
- Held Items: A compartment for managing items currently assigned to Pokémon.
- Progression: Advanced modules (like the Egg Incubator or Lure Satchel) are locked behind NPC quests, storyline milestones, or challenging dungeon completions.
- Sharable: Developed as a standalone mod, allowing other modpack creators in the community to incorporate this high-quality utility into their own projects.
